Blogs vs Regular Static HTML Websites

You may have heard the “buzz” about blogs. However, what’s not immediately clear is WHY blogs are better than traditional web sites.

Here’s 55 reasons why blogs are better than HTML web sites… especially for coaches.

Reason #1: Blogs are better than HTML web sites because blogs are easy to use.

That means you can create fresh content on your blog. This is important because your potential clients aren’t going to hire you without some assurance that you can do what you say you can do. Your potential clients need a way to connect with you… and there’s no better way to “introduce” yourself than with 3 or more weekly articles posted on your blog.

That way, when potential clients find your blog, they’ll find lots of articles which you can use to “introduce” yourself to them.

Reason #2: Blogs are better than HTML web sites because blogs are interactive.

You can leave comments to the posts on this blog. Those comments will include the URL back to your own blog site. That helps to leave a “breadcrumb” trail leading back to … YOUR BLOG! So when someone is reading a blog and they see your pithy comments, they may decide to follow the link and get introduced to your blog. If you have a newsletter subscription form, they may subscribe to your email newsletter. If they’re RSS savvy, they may subscribe to your RSS feed.

(RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Here’s a tutorial on how to use RSS.)

Your blog’s readers can comment on your blog too.

Reason #3: Blogs are better than HTML web sites because blog comments allow web visitors to get back to “surfing” the web instead of searching it.

In the old days, the way you found great websites was through other great websites. Then Google came along and suddenly people stopped surfing and started “searching”. Well, with a blog, people are back to surfing again. So if you have a great blog and you leave a pithy comment on another blog, someone may follow that link and discover your blog.

Reason #4: Blogs are better than HTML web sites because blogs are search engine friendly.

The search engines LOVE blogs. Maybe it’s the blog’s “flat” architecture… maybe it’s the plug in (a bit of code added to a Wordpress blog) that creates and updates the XML sitemap… but for WHATEVER reason, blogs seems to do better than traditional static websites in the search engines…. Especially for those who aren’t “tech” savvy.

Reason #5: Blogs are better than HTML web sites because blogs make it easy to add other types of content.

If the camera loves you, then your blog can provide an easy way to display video clips of yourself explaining the who, what and why’s of your coaching practice. Imagine.. the power of a television commercial that you can easily post to your own web site. Do it on a regular basis, and when people begin to follow your series via RSS it’s called a Podcast!

That 5 reasons why blogs are better than HTML websites for coaches. Need another reason? An Easy Coaching Website blog is far less expensive than almost ANY professionally designed website that is search engine friendly without the ease of updating.
