What is a Blog?
Web 2.0 [a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media in 2003] refers to the second generation of web applications.
While Web 1.0 was all about tech savvy individuals taking their voices to the web, Web 2.0 is all about “average” people taking their voices to the web. Web 2.0 began as social networking sites like MySpace.com. It’s grown to include hosted applications which facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.
Web 2.0 usually refers to blogs and any other “easy for people other than geeks to use” web applications.
The reasons blogs are taking the web community by storm is because the key to a successful web presence is the ability to add fresh, relavant content to the website. Let’s face it, when you write an article and then have to send it to your over-worked web master to post…. well, that can sometimes be enough to make it so you don’t update your content.
You’ll be reading here a lot about blogs and blogging. Very simply, a blog is just an easy to use system which gets your words onto the web so you can share it with others.
